Eating in Kuching - Lunch at Imperial Duck

Imperial Duck is a Hong Kong style eatery serving simple dishes centred around roast duck, char siew, roast pork, etc. They also serve a variety of dim sums. Located along Pending Road, it is part of the Lok Thian restaurant empire in Kuching.

They have an open kitchen where you can see the meats being prepared and roasted.

The restaurant occupies 2 floors of a corner shop lot. It has now expanded to the adjacent lot on the ground floor. The roasts meats have the expected usual taste - nothing extraordinary, but the dishes are served really fast so its great for a quick lunch. The dim sums are not bad too, some of the better ones you can find in Kuching.

I recommend this noodle with dumplings. It has a nice clean taste which is different from the more earthy local kolon mee. The noodles also have a different texture, more like pasta.

This duck porridge is also not bad. I like the texture of the porridge which is authentic Hong Kong style.

Imperial Duck is a good choice for a quick lunch, or for dinner when you are looking for something simple and light.
