Taipei 2012 - Yehliu Geopark

If there is one place you should not miss in Taipei, it is the Yehliu Geopark. Located at the north-eastern coast of Taipei, Yehliu is near the town of Wanli - about 1 1/2 hours drive from Taipei.

The scenery is breathtaking. And you can really sense the power of nature at work here.

This is truly one of the natural wonders of the world and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is full of hoodoo stones of various shapes and sizes. Many have been given imaginative names by the locals and look uncannily like their namesake.

This one is called the Fairy's Sandal.

This is the Hippo's Head.

And the famous Queen's Head. Unfortunately the Queen's neck is getting smaller by the day, and soon it may be gone. Go see it while you still can.
