Dresden 2016 - Zwinger Palace
Zwinger Palace is one of Dresden's most prominent landmark. This Baroque palace complex was commissioned by Augustus the Strong and used as a place for entertainment and festivities. The complex was built between 1710 and 1732. It consists of 6 pavilions connected by galleries - which surround a central formal courtyard garden.
The Zwinger is now a museum complex which houses several museums including the Old Masters Gallery with works from Vermeer, Rubens, Titian and Raphael.
The most famous work is probably the Sistine Madonna by Raphael with the 2 cute angels at the bottom of the painting.
