Japan 2012 - Kyoto Biscuits

If you visit the Higashiyama District, make sure you visit this premium patisserie shop - Malebranche. They sell beautifully made cookies that are simply delicious.

Their signature item is this green tea cookie sandwiched with a white chocolate filling - called Cha No Ka. The biscuits are wafer-thin, and have a texture reminiscent of macarons. The slight bitterness of the matcha mixed with the premium white chocolate created a taste sensation that is simply sensational. As far as I know, these biscuits are only sold in Kyoto.

Though the pricing is somewhat steep, the beautiful packaging and great tastes more than make up for it. Besides the outlet at Higashiyama, they also have several branches around the city.
