Bali 2010 - Cafe Lotus

Cafe Lotus in Ubud is quite famous for its stunning setting and nice Italian and Indonesian food. We did not actually eat there as there simply wasn’t enough slots to fit in all the places we wanted to dine in, but I could not resist going back to see the beautiful lotus pond.

From the road, you can only see a blank wall and the straw roof which covers the main dining area of the restaurant. Once you enter the main entrance gate, you are immediately confronted with the breath-taking view of the lotus pond and the beautiful Balinese temple at the back. This is actually the private family temple of Ubud Palace.

From the road side, no hint of what lies inside.

The lotus pond and temple.

The cafe itself is in an L-shaped building off to one side. It is completely open and not air-conditioned, like most places in Bali. I have eaten here several times before, and can attest that the food is quite good and reasonably priced. Most people come here for the view though. This is a great place to unwind after a long day in Ubud town.

The beautiful lotus flowers - seem to be always in full bloom here.
