Bali 2019 - Katamama Hotel
The Potato Head Group has been making waves in South-East Asia since they opened their Potato Head Beach Club in Seminyak. In 2016 they opened the much anticipated Katamama Hotel just behind the Beach Club. It was designed by renowned Indonesian architect Andra Martin, the concept is quite cutting-edge and brutalist, and yet surprisingly traditional at the same time. The walls of the hotel are built-up from 1.4 million pieces of handmade red bricks – similar to the ones used in the temples. The colour is rich and striking.
Like many lifestyle hotels nowadays, Katama has no reception
counter. Instead, guests are welcomed by a cocktail bar. The interior is
decorated with antiques and vintage furniture, giving it a somewhat retro vibe.
