Florence 2013 - Osteria all"Antico Vinaio

If you are looking for a nice place for dinner in Florence, do yourself a favour and head over to Osteria all"Antico Vinaio. This small and intimate restaurant is on Via dei Neri, not far from Piazza della Signoria. It is essentially a sandwich shop, and the small hole-in-a-wall outlet across the street provides takeaway service and there is always a line outside. For dinner the Osteria is a better choice as there is a small dining area and tables for you to sit and enjoy your meal.

All the things you can order are displayed at the cold counter, with some items sitting on the top of the counter. Inside the counter are a large selection of cold cuts, cheeses and a choice of ingredients such as mushrooms, caramelized onions, peppers, eggplants, etc. On top of the counter are roast pork, roast beef, cooked ham and other cured meats. You can just order what you want, or ask them to put together a platter. Either way, you are guaranteed to have one of the best and cheapest meals in Florence.

We ordered some roast pork, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions,  artichoke cream and roasted pepper puree. We made our own sandwiches with the freshly baked bread. It was delicious !
