Bali 2010 - Komaneka at Tanggayuda

There are three Komaneka Resorts in Ubud. The first was at Monkey Forest Road which is right in Ubud town centre, the 2nd at Tanggayuda - about 20min drive from Ubud Town, and the newest one at Bisma -a bit closer to Ubud Town. Having checked out the photos and reviews online, I opted for Tanggayuda for our 2 night stay in Ubud. When we arrived we knew we had made the right choice.

Developed by Mr Koman Neka who comes from a family of art lover and patrons, the Komanekas are small intimate luxury resorts which focus on good design, artistic decorations and intimate service. This all villa resort at Tanggayuda has only 20 rooms in a large landscaped compound of next to the Oos River. The villas are a bit like mini Amandari chalets complete with a large bathroom, outdoor stone bathtub, and your own pool and gazebo.

The narrow alley which leads to the resort. Only one car can pass through at a time.

The unassuming reception building. Simple yet elegant.

The garden compound is impeccably landscaped and is a joy to wonder around.

The Balinese design offers a high pitched roof with traditional straw covering, a four postal bed with mosquito netting, sofas and daybeds. Our room looks into the beautiful gardens, and all the villas have been carefully designed and laid out to offer maximum privacy with minimal fuss.

The main pool is located next to the Oos River. It is a beautiful infinity pool which overlooks the valley, but your can’t really see the river as the valley is very deep and covered with lush tropical overgrowth.
