Bangkok 2011

Bangkok is one of my favourite cities and I never get tired of visiting it. I know what you are thinking - but besides the more seedy side that it is more renown - or some would say notorious for - it has so much more to offer. Bangkok has great hotels, delicious food, fantastic shopping, a colourful culture, and you are always greeted with a smile. And most importantly, you don’t need to burn a hole in your pocket to enjoy yourself. Tripadvisor.com recently listed Bangkok as the city with the "most bang for the buck", so I am not alone !

Highways are everywhere in Bangkok - they make sure the traffic move along at a brisk pace.

Try not to get caught in one of the famous Bangkok traffic jams though !

The Bangkok skyline is a smorgarsbord of all kinds of buildings.

One of Bangkok's long term icons - the Dusit Thani Hotel.

Since elevated roads and highways were introduced in Bangkok, it has become a lot more pedestrian friendly. Still there are certains corners where it is a challenge just to cross the street.

Some of the best areas to explore in Bangkok are the old streets. A tuk tuk ride is also one of the best ways to move around - just make sure that you don't get ripped off !
