Agra 2018 - Itmad-Ud-Daula
The tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daula is often called the Baby Taj - although it bears no resemblance to the Taj. It is however considered the inspiration for the Taj Mahal due to its elegant symmetrical form and the beauty of its decorations. The composition, proportions and articulation are some of the best in Mughal architecture.
Compared to the Taj Mahal - Itmad-ud-Daulah is a more intricate work of art. The decorative carvings on the walls and lattice screens are quite breathtaking.
The best time to visit is during sunset, when the evening sun bask on the white marble walls giving it an ethereal presence.
