Berlin 2016 - KaDeWe Food Hall

Even if you are not into shopping - KaDeWe is still worth a visit - especially if you love food. While the departmental store may not be a swanky as those in Paris or London - the gourmet food hall is easily a match for the best - occupying the entire 6th floor of the building. This is what a foodie's heaven looks like.

The food hall is a retail space as well as a venue for dining in - with lots of in-house food stands to choose from. The range of gourmet food on offer is really dazzling. There are hundreds of hams and sausages and probably thousands of cheeses to choose from. You could spend a whole day here - or several days. Definitely one of Berlin's must visits.

The hors d'oeurves counter offer some mouth-watering selections and I couldn't resist ordering a couple to try - even though they were a few euros a pop. They were delicious.

While the food is amazing and the presentation fabulous, service here is a bit of a let down. Most of the servers don't speak English - but even with the local shoppers I did not notice any camaraderie with the servers. I suspect most of the staff are from different parts of Europe and probably don't speak German very well either.
