Bangkok 2011 - Dinner at Ban Khun Mae Thai Restaurant

Ban Khun Mae is a Thai restaurant in Siam Square, on Soi 7 opposite the Novotel Hotel. It is very popular with tourists and expats, and is even listed in Lonely Planet and highlly recommended in TripAdvisor. The decor of the restaurant is quite traditional, with lots of dark wood paneling and Thai artifacts. I was attracted by the display of beautiful and tempting Thai desserts in the shop window.

The menu is quite mainstream and offers most of the popular Thai dishes, so don't expect anything unusual. I decided to go for the Ban Khun Mae Sampler, which is a platter of their most popular dishes. There was Mee Krob, Sweet and Sour Pork, Chicken Yellow Curry, Rice Noodle Salad, Stirfried Vegies, and Deepfried Fishcakes. All the items were very good, and if you are dining with only one or two persons this gives you an opportunity to sample more dishes.

If you are in the Siam Square area and looking for a place to eat, I would highly recommend Ban Khun Mae. The food is very authentic and tasty, and prices are quite reasonable.
