Macau - Fortaleza do Monte and Macau Museum
A short walk from St. Paul's will take you to the Fortaleza do Monte (Fort Monte) and the Macau Museum. The Fort was built in the 17th century by the Jesuits to protect their properties from pirates. It was later seized by the Portuguese colonials and became a military base. The Macau Museum was built inside the Fort in the 1990s. It houses an exhibition on the history of Macau.
The Fort itself is not much to look at, but right at the top is a big landscaped plaza and from here you get great views of Macau City from all angles. Unfortunately when we were there it was so misty that we couldn't see much.
Walk up the hill to the Fort.

The Macau Museum built into the centre of the Fort.
Views from the top. It was a very misty day.
