Shenzhen & Dongguang 2010 - Dongguang
Have you ever wondered where your laptops or handphones come from ? Well, this may be where all your HPs and Nokias are actually made. Dongguang is the electronics and high-tech manufacturing hub of China. High-tech is a relative word, as the majority of the factories here are probably where the grunt work is done for very little money. Most of the high-tech stuff - i.e. design work, is done elsewhere.
Dongguang City is about 90 km from Shenzhen and has a population of around 7 million. It has the same impressive infrastructure as Shenzhen. Behind the modern facade lies some of the deep dark secrets of global sweatshop economy. Still, it is difficult not to be impressed.
Office and apartment buildings are very modern.

Landscaping and urban design quite nicely done.
