Bali 2014 - Monkey Forest

Monkey Forest is one of the main attractions in Ubud. My last visit there was more than 15 years ago - and I don't really have much impression about the place except the over-aggressive monkeys who would not think twice about snatching things from visitors' bags. Since then I have not felt any urge to revisit the place until this trip, with kids in tow. 

From my memory, the forest is quite a dark place - but this time it seems much brighter. I think they must have done a lot of new improvements - including new walkways and plazas. It feels a lot more open and pleasant now.

There are some new tracks to some nice waterfalls.

You don't come to Monkey Forest and not see the monkeys. They are everywhere, and just as aggressive.

These monkeys and macaques may look cute and harmless, but they can be quite fierce when they see something they want. There are some horror stories of people being attacked by the monkeys - so do take care and bring minimal bags with you when you visit.
