Milan 2013 - Via Monte Napoleone
Milan is the fashion capital of Italy, and it is home to some of the biggest names in fashion - such as Giorgio Armani, Valentino Garavani, Gianni Versace, Gianfranco Ferrè, Miuccia Prada, Krizia, Moschino, Etro, Trussardi, Missoni, and Dolce & Gabbana. One of the most exclusive and important fashion streets in Milan is Via Monte Napoleone. All the top labels have their boutiques here.
Maybe because the boutiques are framed by great Classical architecture - the displays are not as ostentatious as those we are used to in shopping malls. Even the usually flamboyant Versace shop looks quite tame here.
The theme for last year seemed to be bold colours. Many of the designers were featuring bright pops of colours and bold geometric patterns.
This window display was one of my favourites.
Our own Datuk Jimmy Choo also had a boutique there.
Burberry and Moschino.
Besides the boutiques, many of the fashion designers also keep their fashion workshops or ateliers here. They are usually hidden in the side streets. If you hang around long enough, you might see some of them popping in and out - or even some models.
