Beijing 2018 - Yanqi Lake

Right behind the Sunrise Kempinski Hotel is a dam that created the adjacent Yanqi Lake. Located at the foot of the Yanshan Mountains, this area is in the Huairou District towards the Northeast of Beijing. The area was developed into a scenic holiday spot and opened to the public in 1987. There are several leisure areas and amusement parks around the lake for the weekenders from Beijing.

An international convention centre was constructed to host the 2014 APEC Meeting, and President Barrack Obama and other dignitaries stayed at the ultra-luxurious Yanqi Resort which is also managed by Kempinski.

The mountains provide a majestic backdrop for the landscape. Being early Spring, the trees and flowers have not started to bloom yet. So the scenery is a bit stark but still beautiful.
