Penang 2011 - Old Town Part I
The Heritage Area in George Town consists of the Core Zone and a Buffer Zone. The Core Zone covers an area of around 270 acres. It may sound big, but in fact can be covered on foot within half a day. Trust me, I have done it !
The great thing about George Town is how jam-packed it is with heritage architectural gems. Everywhere you turn you are bound to bump into something interesting. The streets roughly follow a grid pattern so you wouldn't get lost.
The best time to explore the Old Town is in the early morning when temperatures are cooler. Also many local Penangites are out and about doing their daily shopping, getting breakfast for the family, or just hanging out having their morning cuppa.

The locals going about their daily business.
An "apong balik" stall. This is the thick traditional style as compared to the new versions which tend to be much thinner and crispier. I still like this old version which has a soft cake-like texture.
The Campbell Street Wet Market at the corner of Campbell Street and Carnovan Street.
