Bangkok 2011 - Vertigo at Banyan Tree
When in Bangkok - a visit to one of the rooftop bars is a must. They have several great ones here - Skybar at Lebua, Three Sixty at Millennium Hilton, Rooftop Bar at Baiyoke Sky Hotel, and Vertigo at Banyan Tree. We chose Vertigo as the building is right next to where we were going for dinner. It is the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks.
Banyan Tree Hotel is one of the tallest buildings in Bangkok, and the bar is right on the roof top. you take a lift to one of the highest level, and then have to walk a couple of floors up to the bar. If you are afraid of heights, it is best to avoid.
The bar here is quite small, but the views are great. As it is right in the CBD, you get great views of the downtown area, and also the Chao Phraya River. Drinks here are not cheap - around THB 500 for a cocktail or beer. But for the view and the ambiance - it is well worth it.
Great views of Bangkok from here, especially at dusk. Best time to go is around 6.00 p.m. to wait for the sunset.
